Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers on how RamScout works, how we rank RAM deals, and how to use the site to find the best value.

RamScout scans live eBay RAM listings and ranks them by price per GB so you can spot good-value DDR3, DDR4, and DDR5 deals faster.

We pull listing data from the official eBay Browse API for each marketplace you select (UK, US, DE, CA, AU). Prices and availability can change quickly on eBay, so the site updates on a regular schedule.

Price per GB is the listing price divided by the total capacity (in GB). For kits like 2x16GB, RamScout aims to compute the total as 32GB.

Sellers don’t always fill in item specifics consistently. RamScout uses item specifics first, then falls back to title parsing, and (when needed) performs a limited extra lookup to fill in missing form factor details.

  • DIMM: Standard desktop/server slot (full-size).
  • SO-DIMM: Smaller laptop/mini PC memory.
  • UDIMM: Unbuffered DIMM (common in desktops).
  • RDIMM: Registered DIMM (common in servers/workstations).
  • LRDIMM: Load-reduced DIMM (server memory for higher capacities).

Currently, RamScout focuses on the item price returned by the marketplace API. Shipping and import costs can vary, so always open the listing and double-check the full total before buying.

Some outbound links may be affiliate links (eBay Partner Network and/or Amazon Associates). If you purchase via those links, RamScout may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

Start with your DDR generation (DDR3/DDR4/DDR5), then narrow by capacity and form factor. Sort by price per GB to spot value, and check the listing title/specs to confirm compatibility with your system.

  • Check the seller rating and return policy.
  • Look for clear photos of labels/part numbers.
  • Confirm form factor (DIMM vs SO-DIMM) and DDR generation.
  • Be cautious with listings that advertise multiple sizes in one title.
  • If in doubt, prefer branded modules (Crucial, Kingston, Samsung, Micron, Hynix) and listings with returns.

Alerts aren’t built into the public site yet, but they’re planned. For now, RamScout focuses on frequently-updated snapshots so you can spot new listings quickly.
